Summary: Written for The Fantastic Cliches and Why You Should Write Them Fic-a-Thon. Spoilers through DH.
A/N: This is the latest entry ever in a fic-a-thon (it was due in the Spring of 2006), re-worked multiple times for want of a satisfactory ending, completed in February 2008. I thought I picked the easiest and most interesting of the clichés that were suggested, (the whole “her blood is RED, not muddy—omfg who KNEW?” angle). It turned out to be anything but that. Bigotry is a challenging theme to address with this particular pairing. I came to the conclusion that a satisfactory ending had to address bigotry without dismissing it just because I think it is ridiculous and unfathomable.
